UNIVERSITI Brunei Darussalam (UBD) marked the change of leadership of the UBD Students’ Association (PMUBD) yesterday by appointing members of the new Student Representative Council for 2016/2017 in a ceremony held at the Inspiring Hall, UBD Student Centre, which also saw the dissolution of the Student Representative Council 2015/2016.
Present to officiate the dissolution and new appointment of the Student Representative Council was Rubiah binti Haji Yacub, Assistant Vice Chancellor (Corporate and Administration) and Registrar and Secretary of UBD, in her capacity as guest of honour.
The Dean of Students, Saidai bin Haji Hitam, in his welcoming address thanked the former Student Representative Council for their service, contribution and sacrifice towards the development of PMUBD and the realisation of its vision and mission, in line with that of UBD.
The guest of honour then presented the former council members with a token of appreciation after a farewell speech from their former president, Muhammad Khairuddin Ishak, who gave some advice to the new batch of Student Representative Council members.
The new Student Representative Council was then officially introduced to the audience before taking their oath as the new council.
Both the presidents then performed the official handover of duties, witnessed by the guest of honour.
The event culminated with a speech by the new president, Mohammad Ashmeer S/O Imtiaz Ahmad, and a group photo session.
The Student Representative Council election campaign which is held annually started early October. Successful nominees had to go through a four-day Leadership Course before they can be elected for the available posts.
