INDERA SC eased to the quarterfinals of the Brunei DST FA Cup 2016 after cruising to an emphatic 5-1 victory over fellow league rivals Wijaya FC in a blockbuster tie at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.

Hamizan Aziz Sulaiman bagged a hat-trick in the rout with goals in the 32nd, 59th and 82nd minute while solitary strikes from Sahrin Momin a minute before the break and Awangku Md Haikal in the 54th minute added gloss to the win.

Wijaya SC’s scant consolation came from Awangku Anaqi Sufi in the 68th minute.

Indera fielded a strong squad naming their two national stars in the line-up after the pair returned from international duty in Kuching, Malaysia.

Indera SC’s midfielder Muhammad Nur Ikmal Damit and defender Mohammad ‘Afi Aminuddin, both who represented the national team during the international duty in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) qualifiers and the AFC Solidarity Cup, returned to the starting line-up.

Afi, who started against Timor Leste, Nepal, Macau and Laos including completing all 120 minutes in the dramatic semi-final clash against Macau, played his fifth game in 16 days.

Meanwhile, Tabuan Under-17 team applied their training into practice after comfortably beating Jerudong FC 4-1 in an earlier kick-off at the Berakas Sports Complex.

The Tabuan Under-17 team were seen put through their paces on Wednesday evening and were in inspired form recognising that their senior team produced a proud performance in Kuching.

The junior Wasps trailed for 12 minutes but the floodgates soon opened after Jerudong had taken the lead with a slice of fortune through a Md Azrirul Asmadi Abdullah Aji’s own goal in the 54th minute.

But, it was soon one way traffic as the Tabuan Under-17 demonstrated their fine fitness levels with Abd Mateen Said levelling the score in the 66th minute.

Jerudong completely collapsed in the final ten minutes as Tabuan ran riot with three goals through Md Nur Asyraffahmi Nor Samri in the 80th minute, Md Suhaily Syafiee Abdullah Marrani in the 89th minute and Syazwan Haji Sahrin in the second minute of injury time.

It was pretty clean in the disciplinary watch as Mohd Enddy Soehardy Awang Sapar of Jerudong became the only player to be cautioned in the 78th minute.

However it could be said the same in the match between Najip I Team and Setia Perdana as Ahmad Karim was sent off in the 69th minute.

Najip I Team will join DST Super League rivals Indera SC in the quarterfinals after beating Setia Perdana 2-1 at Track and Field Sports Complex.

Md Amirul opened the scoring for Najip in the 5th minute before Aziz Hanafi equalised for Setia Perdana in the 51st minute.

However, Norfaez grabbed the winner in the 70th minute via a penalty to send his side through.

Tabuan Under-17 will meet the winner of MS PDB and Menglait FC while Najip I Team will play the winner between Lun Bawang and IKLS FC.

Meanwhile, Indera SC will meet the winner between Tabuan Under-21 and Kasuka FC in the quarter-finals.
