THE Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and the Oman Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs will be co-hosting an exhibition entitled ‘Tolerance, Understanding, Coexistence: Oman’s Message of Islam’ from November 29 to December 1 at the Jerudong International School’s (JIS) Arts Centre.

The joint collaboration was announced yesterday in a press conference at the MoRA by Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the MoRA, and Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel bin Rashed bin Hashel Al-Maskari, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam.

“The exhibition is aimed at promoting the similarities between Brunei and Oman in terms of religious culture and values,” remarked the ambassador during the conference.

Over three days, the event will showcase 24 panels, with texts and graphics depicting how Islam is practised in a modern Arabian society.

There will also be a short documentary film, ‘Religious Tolerance in Oman’, by award-winning German filmmaker Wolfgang Ettlich, along with photographs, calligraphy, artefacts and other works of art which illustrate the role of Islam in Oman’s contemporary society.

The exhibition will also feature a lecture from Dr Mohammad Al Mamari, as well as two cultural events – a sand art show and Nasyid performance by talented Omani artists – on November 30.
