POPULAR Bruneian and Singaporean artistes took centre-stage to thrill the audiences including viewers at home during the Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) and MediaCorp Singapore jointly-produced entertainment programme titled ‘Rapsodi’ last Saturday night at the Theatre Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The 16th Rapsodi carried the theme ‘Music Merentasi Sempadan’ (Music Beyond Boundaries) where the performance this year focused on internationally-inspired Malay songs as well as Western, Arabic, Bollywood and Asian pop.
The show was broadcasted live on RTB2, RTB3 HD, RTB International and the national FM radio station on 92.3 on Saturday night.
Present at the show was Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as the guest of honour together with his counterpart from Singapore, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, the Minister for Communications and Information.
The production came as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Government of the Republic of Singapore, symbolising the unity and prosperity of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Musical talents from Brunei who performed during the show included Aziz Harun, Syasya Sahira, Yaniey Junaini, Rapul Rizal, Rizal Rasid, Rappers Yazid Yusof and Aneep. Meanwhile, artistes from Singapore include Aisyah Aziz, Awi Rafael, Sunny Jackson, Elfee Ismail and Farisha Ishak.
