THE APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) and the Asean Business Advisory Council (Asean-BAC) recently co-hosted a dialogue session at the Design and Technology Building, as part of the continuing efforts to promote small and medium enterprises (SMEs) under DARE (Darussalam Enterprise).
Representing ABAC Brunei during the session were Soon Loo, the CEO of DARE, and Hafimi binti Abdul Haadii, while Lisa binti Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim and Yanty binti Dato Abdul Rahman represented Asean-BAC. The event was attended by Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, together with 50 representatives from local businesses.
A question-and-answer session was held afterwards, during which several business representatives solicited ideas on how to improve their respective companies.
The dialogue is aimed at highlighting relevant issues, as well as proposing solutions and insights for businesses in Brunei and other Asean countries.
Among the initiatives by ABAC includes supporting the development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as an important means of achieving quality growth and reinforcing the benefits of globalisation, particularly on entrepreneurship and employment.
Asean-BAC also encourages local businesses to participate in annual events such as the Asean Business and Investment Summit (ABIS), and the Asean Business Awards (ABA).
