SOME 450 Muslim youths took part in the ‘3S: Subuh, Solat, Sihat – Solat Subuh and Walkathon’ campaign held at Ash-Shaliheen Mosque of the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday.

The flag-off was officiated by the guest of honour, Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Director of Mosque Affairs, Mosque Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

There were two categories, namely the 5km for men, which began from Ash-Shaliheen Mosque to the Silver Jubillee Park, and 3km for women, which began from the mosque to the Kumbang Pasang area. Prior to the event, participants got together for the mass Subuh prayer and followed by a religious talk on ‘Food for Soul’ by Ustaz Hilman bin Haji Salim. Participants then joined an aerobics session led by the youths of Ash-Shaliheen Mosque.

According to one of the event organisers Dayangku NurHidayatul Hafiyyah binti Dato Paduka Haji Othman, response has been encouraging with the unexpected number of youths participating in the campaign.

Among the objectives were to foster good relationship within the community and at the same time, to attract Muslim youths to perform Subuh prayer at the mosque. The ‘3S’ event was organised by the Mosque Takmir Committee and Mosque Youth of Ash-Shaliheen Mosque in collaboration with residents of Mukim Kianggeh.
