THE Junior Staff Course (JSC) 2016 concluded yesterday with a certificate and awards presentation ceremony at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Defence Academy, in Kampong Tanah Jambu.
The guest of honour was Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, the Joint Force Commander of the RBAF, who presented certificates and awards to the participants.
Captain Cai Jinde Lincoln from the Singapore Armed Forces received awards for the Overall Best Student and Best Research Essay, while the award for the Best Service Paper went to Captain (U) Abdul Hamid bin Moslim.
A total of 19 uniformed officers took part in the course, including 10 from the RBAF, one from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and eight from the Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and China.
The 14-week training, which began on September 10, was a basic one that encompassed non-operational staff duties, leadership, international relations and strategic and operational planning phases.
The participants also engaged in academic discussions and gained exposure to strategic, operational and tactical considerations, which culminated in a joint-level planning exercise.
Also present at yesterday’s closing ceremony were services commanders and senior officers of the RBAF, as well as directors, defence attaches, advisers, and staff members of the Defence Academy.
