THE Ministry of Religious Affairs held a formal closing of the Dikir Maulud last night, at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong.
The guest of honour was Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs.
The event began with a ‘Dikir Assalamulaika’ conducted by a Dikir group from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
This was followed by Dikir ‘Khairuman Udana Laila’ performed by the Al-Mukmin group from Kampong Perpindahan Lambak Kanan, together with the Zaidana and the Al-Mu’tashimun Billah Dikir groups.
A recitation of Dikir ‘Bisyahrin’ was then conducted by the PERANGKAP and Belimbing Subok Dikir groups.

An overview of the ceremony last night at the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong.
Two groups from the Brunei-Muara District Office and the Malay Chamber of Kampong Bunut and the Malay Chamber of Business and Commerce joined the Teratak Sumor Dikir Group of Kampong Bunut for a recitation of Dikir ‘Alham Allah’.
A delegation from the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, meanwhile, held a recitation of Dikir ‘Badat’ and Dikir ‘Asyraqal’.
The Dikir ceremony is annually observed for 12 consecutive nights in mosques and prayer halls across the country, starting on 1st Rabiulawal, 1438 Hijrah, in honour of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and his sacrifices for Islam.
