THE 2016 Asean – China Workshop on Cooperation for Cultural Production Capacity recently concluded in Hengdian, China.
Attending the workshop to represent Brunei were representatives from Origin Films: Director, Siti Kamaluddin; Director of Photography, Chan Man Ching; Actress Liyana Yus and Actor Shahrain Zulkifli.
The seven-day workshop involved discussions and a symposium regarding producing Asean-China films to be screened on China’s leading broadcaster, CCTV.
During the workshop, Siti Kamaluddin signed a Memorandum of Understanding to begin her cooperation work with China.
In her closing speech, rep-resenting the Asean member countries, Siti Kamaluddin said, “Working together to further the same goals, the synergy between Asean member countries and China, will ensure production quality and values that will help countries that are just starting out like Brunei to continue to progress.”
The representatives, during the workshop, were also given a tour around the Hengdian World Studios – one of the largest movie studios in Asia.
Siti Kamaluddin expressed her gratitude for the week-long experience in China.
“In one short week, we have been talking to each other and collaborating. It is definitely a good start. I can’t wait to go back home and get started,” she said.
The cooperation work between Asean-China is set to begin in 2017.
