ACTING Minister of Defence First Admiral (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit yesterday received an introductory call from High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam Major General (Rtd) Tariq Rashid Khan.
The acting minister congratulated the high commissioner on his appointment and welcomed him to the country.
Both sides took the opportunity to commend the brotherly relations between Brunei Darussalam and Pakistan, and also reaffirmed their commitment to further enhance defence cooperation.
On May 19, 2004, the framework for fostering closer defence and military cooperation between Brunei and Pakistan was established with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that covered areas such as exchange visits, courses and trainings, information-sharing as well as technology.
The high commissioner presented his Letter of Credence to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on October 25, 2016.
