THE Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) water fountain monument situated at the open area of the Kianggeh Food Court in Jalan Residency, has become an attraction among visitors both local and foreign.
Built in 1975 facing the Water Village, the monument attracts visitors who came to the area to rest and enjoy their meals.
The monument was presented by PGGMB to commemorate the marriage of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, to Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam in 1965.
The 41-year-old monument, which received a facelift this year, gives a sense of nostalgia of the beauty of the area back in the day.
