DARE (Darussalam Enterprise) yesterday held a press conference on its micro and small-medium Enterprise (MSME) outreach programme that is being conducted throughout the month of December until the early week of January 2017.
Present at the Design and Technology (D&T) Building in Kampong Anggerek Desa for the press conference were DARE Manager Norlela binti Suhailee and DARE Executive Officer Fatin binti Muzini.
Fatin explained that over the past week, DARE agents have approached 300 MSMEs in the Jaya Setia commercial area of Berakas.
DARE is currently conducting the outreach programme in Serusop, before proceeding to Kiulap.
Apart from reaching out to MSME owners, the main goal of the outreach programme is to acquire statistical information on MSMEs in Brunei, including employee numbers, sales revenue and company size.
“This outreach programme is for us to better understand their position and the business landscape in Brunei,” said Norlela, adding that, “It’s very important for us to understand their position, so that we can adapt future programmes or initiatives to fit their needs. We also need to establish the statistics for data.”
She explained that identifying the companies’ respective positions, issues, constraints and range will enable DARE to better understand their limitations and strengths.
“We just want the companies’ cooperation to share with us what they are experiencing, or just provide us with details which we assure will be kept confidential,” said Fatin. “We just want them to be as open as they can with us.”
Norlela concluded the briefing by saying that DARE is ready to offer assistance to all companies, even if they are still unregistered or in the process of starting out.
