STUDENTS participating as volunteers to assist the ‘Tarbiyyah Programme for Kids’, an Islamic-driven enrichment workshop for young children organised in all districts by Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) during the school holiday for the underprivileged children, has gained valuable experience.

They said as volunteers they worked together to make the programme a big success and gained skills by teaching young children and contributing towards their early spiritual and creative development.

The programme, introduced by Dr Hajah Mona Yati binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Mohd Kassim, Lecturer at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) and founder of MuBn Learning and Growth Company, is an innovative, Islamic-driven enrichment programme for kids which since its introduction in December 2015 has helped many young minds develop strong spiritual awareness and moral etiquette based on the teachings of Islam and the scientific reasoning of the Al-Quran, Hadith and Sunnah.

Dr Hajah Mona Yati, who is also an entrepreneurship expert, told the Bulletin that the programme introduces the young minds to the beauty of Islam and teaches them about matters that are important for being a Muslim, the personal quality and life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and Islamic values.

It also teaches children quite a variety of things from praying to the creation of things, and even about foods that are traditionally encouraged in Islam for their beneficial qualities, he added.

Dr Hajah Mona Yati explained that the child-oriented approach of the programme is designed to provide fun for children where they learn hands-on through play. It also incorporates aspects of the Montessori programme such as learning through self-discovery etc.
