A TOTAL of 86 youths comprising 49 males and 37 females from the Youth Development Centre received their certificates at the passing out parade ceremony to mark the completion of the July 2016 session of the six-month courses conducted under the Youth Development Programme.
The event took place yesterday at the Youth Development Centre in Tanah Jambu.
The guest of honour who presented the certificates to the recipients was Haji Mohd Noor Jusmin bin Haji Abdul Samad, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
During the ceremony, 42 youths received the Best Trainee Awards. The Overall Best Trainee Awards were given to two youths – Mohamad Isamuddin bin Mohd Salleh who did basic fabrication, welding and pipe work and Dayangku Nor Hamizah Izzati binti Pengiran Alihan who completed basic IT and office application system.
In an interview, Mohamad Isamuddin shared that he is planning to further his studies and strengthen his skills and that his ambition is to set up a small business in a field of welding. Meanwhile, Dayangku Nor Hamizah Izzati said that she chose Municipal Department for her work placement and planning to work after completing it.
“With this course, I was able to gain more knowledge and information on basic IT and office application system and it has always been my passion to study and learn more on IT,” she added.
In his speech, the guest of honour advised the trainees to have determination for the development of themselves and families.
The trainees received the City & Guild certificate which is recognised internationally and will enable them to effectively compete in the job market and to apply in their future studies at government and private educational institutions.
The Youth Development Centre is focused on developing the potential of youth through training. During the course, the trainees will be instilled with comprehension skills, entrepreneurship spirit, social responsibility, health and environmental awareness and patriotism, before the work placement.
