THE Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), Ministry of Communications marked International Civil Aviation Day with a religious ceremony held at the Brunei International Airport Surau yesterday.
Present as the guest of honour was the Minister of Communications, Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat. Also present were the Acting Director of Civil Aviation, Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof together with officials from the department.
The ceremony commenced with a mass Zohor prayer followed by the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and thanksgiving prayer led by the Imam of the surau.
International Civil Aviation Day is officially celebrated worldwide every December 7, through the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), also known as the Chicago Convention. ICAO is a specialised organisation under the United Nations tasked at shaping up coordination and supervision of regulations and standards in civil aviation.
The theme for this year was ‘Working Together to Ensure No Country is Left Behind’.
