COMMITTEE members of the Hokkien Association of Brunei Darussalam donated $14,250 dollars to victims of the recent fire that broke out in Kampong Ayer during a ceremony held at the Brunei-Muara District Office building.
Present to handover the donation to the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, was the Chairman of the association, Lim Han Chiong.
Twenty-eight out of 33 members of the association donated to the victims.

Lim Han Chiong said the association frequently holds donation campaigns to assist the needy through registered agencies in the country. It has been part of their charity project since their establishment in 1998.
Twenty-four houses were razed to the ground in Kampong Lorong Dalam and Kampong Pandai Besi ‘A’ in Kampong Ayer on December 7.
On December 23, three more houses were gutted in another fire at Kampong Lorong Dalam in Kampong Ayer leaving 16 people homeless. No injuries were reported in the mentioned incidents.
