WITH year-end bonuses paid to employees of the public sector, the recently opened Year End Carnival 2016 shopping festival at The Airport Mall in Berakas experienced a sudden surge of shoppers, with many of them shopping for items early in the morning, as soon as the mall doors were opened.

The carnival, which was organised by local entrepreneurs Berkat ATB, began on December 23 and will end on January 8, 2017.

This is always a popular time for shoppers to look for real bargains, as women look for discounted items such as textiles, women’s wear, children’s clothing, and many others.

Other items sold at the carnival include men’s wear, food and drinks, kitchenware, electronic goods, sportswear and others. The shopping area was more crowded in the evening, with traffic jams on the road to the mall.

The final day of the carnival will see a lucky draw where a winner will bring home an iPhone 7.

The organisers also are giving away shawls every day, and a total of 1,500 pieces of shawls are estimated to be given away free by the end of the carnival. This is a popular event where shoppers queue for the shawls.
