THE escalation of vandalism of public property has become a concern that needs to be urgently tackled. Recently, the Landless Indigenous Citizens Housing Scheme (STKRJ) Sungai Buloh’s playground area has become the target of mindless vandalism with majority of the playing equipments left scorched and damaged.
During the Bulletin’s visit to the area, it was found that the playground, provided by the government as a recreational space for the residents and young children of STKRJ Sungai Buloh, has been destroyed.
It appears from the melted slides and several other pieces of plastic equipment that the playground was set on fire. The playground is currently closed for an extensive period since the remaining structures seemed unusable and non-repairable. The amount of loss is high considering that it will require new replacement equipment.
Although various measures have been undertaken by the authorities to prevent this problem, it seems that there is no end to vandalism.
In an effort to maintain the facilities provided by the government in the long run, members of the public are urged to cooperate and jointly safeguard and maintain the facilities.
