VICTIMS of the fire which gutted a house in Kampong Pulaie earlier this month received donations from the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) yesterday. The ceremony was held at the foundation’s headquarters in Kumbang Pasang.
Hajah Rasiah binti Haji Jaafar and her son, Pengiran Aine bin Pengiran Haji Chuchu received a total donation of $6,050 from the Managing Director of Yayasan, Haji Brahim bin Haji Ismail.
According to Pengiran Aine, the family is currently staying with close family members as the fire engulfed his home and destroyed properties. His elderly mother, who was alone at the house when the incident happened, was left unharmed.
Yayasan is a charity platform of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and members of the royal family, as a symbol of concern and care for the welfare of Brunei citizens and for building a prosperous and peaceful community.
One of the aims of the establishment of the foundation is to provide care and assistance to the less fortunate, such as those involved in fire and this assistance is provided by the foundation from time to time as needed.
