UKRAINE’S Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin and his delegation yesterday paid a visit to the Royal Regalia, one of the popular tourism spots in the country.
Present to welcome the arrival of the visiting Ukraine’s minister were Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Aji, Acting Director of Museums; as well as other senior officials.
Pavlo Klimkin was briefed on numerous exhibits of Royal Regalia from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam childhood days up to the time of his coronation. The building also showcased the Silver Jubilee Gallery on His Majesty’s 25th anniversary accession to the throne.
The Royal Regalia building also has the Constitutional History Gallery, which houses documents, photographs, film and recordings.
The Ukraine delegation was also taken to visit the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque. They were welcomed by Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Director of Mosque Affairs; Zulkifli bin Haji Murat, Mosque Affairs Officer; as well as other officers and employees of the mosque committee.
In view of the large number of tourist arrivals, the mosque was crowned with a ‘Certificate of Excellence’ recognition for two consecutive years in 2014 and 2015 by Tripadvisor.
The building of the mosque began on 1st of Muharram, 1373 Hijrah corresponding to February 4, 1954 and was officially opened by Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam on September 26, 1958.
Pavlo Klimkin and his delegation was in Brunei Darussalam from January 13-14 to resume political dialogue at the highest level, discuss ways of bringing bilateral relations to a new level, as well as to strengthen cooperation in international and regional organisations.
