THE 2017 BruONZ Summer Games concluded last night with an exciting gala dinner and award presentation at The Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong.
Attending the event in her capacity as the guest of honour was Datin Paduka Tan Bee Yong, the High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to New Zealand; Nicola Rosenblum, the Australian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam; BruONZ members and alumni from universities across Australia and New Zealand.
At the event, Datin Paduka Tan Bee Yong delivered a keynote address and presented prizes to the medalists from the 2017 Summer Games.
Guests were also treated to performances and displays by each of the five student associations represented in BruONZ.
The evening was also an opportunity for students currently studying in Australia and New Zealand to meet with established and influential Bruneian Alumni.
As part of the evening’s activities, the Australian High Commission hosted a networking session which encouraged students and alumni to get to know each other better with prizes on offer for those with quick networking skills.
The BruONZ Summer Games is an annual event for Brunei students studying in Australia and New Zealand while they are back in Brunei for the holidays.
Hosting duties rotate between Australian state and New Zealand student associations, with The Brunei Students’ Association of New Zealand (BSANZ, representing students from Otago and Auckland) hosting this year.
The 2017 Games included friendly competitions in badminton, futsal, netball and dodgeball.
