FOUR young Bruneians have been chosen out of 300 applicants to join the 47th intake of the Royal Brunei Airlines’ (RB) Cadet Pilot Scheme.

Muhammad Zaidani bin Haji Mohd Zaini, Randy bin Selim @ Lim Ming Poh, Dayangku Nur Azimah binti Pengiran Anuar and Brendan Ti Zee Yung are the latest recruits in the training scheme which seeks to equip local youths with the skills, qualifications and experience needed to become a First Officer on board the RB.

A signing ceremony was held with CTC Aviation of New Zealand yesterday, with RB being represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Karam Chand; and the Acting Head of Corporate Services, Zama’aiah binti Haji Nayan.

The new cadets will commence their training with CTC Aviation on January 23, in a programme called ‘CTC Wings’.

In an interview with the Bulletin, Dayangku Nur Azimah said that she hoped to be familiarised with the physical and technical terms by the end of their training.

“I also hope to put more effort into learning all the safety procedures before take-off and landing, with so many passengers on board,” she said.

Muhammad Zaidani, meanwhile, was delighted to have been chosen, and promised to do his best to make his parents proud.

RB currently employs 102 local Bruneians as commercial pilots, with 51 representing the Airbus A319/A320 fleet, and another 51 representing the Boeing 787 fleet.
