YB HAJI Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin, Penghulu of Mukim Liang; and YB Hanapi bin Mohd Siput, Village Head of Kampong Labi I; were recently appointed as Belait District Representatives for the Legislative Council (LegCo).
In an interview, YB Haji Abdul Hamid, said, “While we are happy about being appointed as District Representatives for LegCo, our more immediate feeling is what we should do after that. Our immediate goal is to help the community by meeting their expectations and by providing any aid wherever possible.”
YB Hanapi felt the same way, adding that “while we feel that the responsibilities (as a LegCo member) are high, I believe we can shoulder those responsibilities for the sake of the community that we represent and for the good of the country”.
Both YB Haji Abdul Hamid and YB Hanapi wish for the community of Kuala Belait, the government, private sector and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to be cooperative in order to enrich the surrounding environment and atmosphere of Belait District.
Both LegCo members also hope this will lead to a sense of unity for the community and the growth of the country’s unique culture which leads to the growth of the district and the country as a whole.
