A PUBLIC awareness roadshow on the import and export of agricultural, fishery and forestry products was hosted by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) at the Conference Hall located along Jalan Pretty, Kuala Belait on the morning of January 17.
The MPRT recently introduced a new online system to help accelerate the process of acquiring an import or export permit called the ‘Brunei Darussalam National Single Window’ (BDNSW).
The aim of the roadshow was to educate the public on the procedures, both old and new, on the importation and exportation of agriculture, fishing and forestry products and answering any question regarding said procedures.
Present for the roadshow were not only the entrepreneurs from the agriculture, fishery and forestry departments, but also staff from the MPRT in Kuala Belait, government officers, head of counties and head of villages and members of the association of the Village Consultative Council (MPK) in the Belait District.
The event started at 8.30am with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and was followed by a series of presentations by the staff from the MPRT.
In an interview, Masliana Yuliah binti Abdullah, Head Division of Biosecurity said, “The roadshow aims to teach the public and anyone who are interested to import and/or export items related to agriculture, fishing and forestry in Brunei by outlining the procedures of applying for the permit to import or export.
“These procedures exist to help curb the possibility of diseases that can spread from unregulated import and export, so that we can care for our surrounding environment, and thus, care for our community,” she added.
Individuals who are interested in importing and exporting on a commercial level can visit the BDNSW website at www.bdnsw.gov.bn while importers and exporters on a smaller scale can find more information on these websites – http://biz.bruneimipr.gov.bn/eMIPR or www.mprt.gov.bn.
