THE illustrious Seruji Haji Setia got the year off in style by capturing the Overall Gross title at the PWM Kampong Ayer Charity Golf yesterday.
In his first local tournament of the year, he carded 72 Gross to outclass the rest of the field at the Pantai Mentiri Golf Club.
“I am happy to start off with my first win in a local tournament this year. I felt that I hit the ball quite well today.
“The green was generally good … although some parts were slow,” Seruji said.
Seruji said that although he was glad to have a title in the bag, he was happier to have made a contribution to victims of a recent fire.
“Apart from playing golf, we also wanted to contribute to the fire victims of Kampong Pandai Besi ‘A’ and Kampong Lorong Dalam, where families lost their homes,” added Seruji, whose next tournament is the Malaysia Open in Kuala Lumpur next month.
