THE Information Department hosted a ‘Knowing Asean’ (Kenali Asean) roadshow yesterday, for the students of the Pengiran Isteri HajJah Mariam Secondary School (SMPIHM) in Muara.
The event, organised by the department’s International Affairs Unit, as the Secretariat of the Asean-COCI Information Sub-Committee, was attended by Haji Mahleyuddin bin Haji Matussin, the Deputy Principal of SMPIHM.
A briefing on Asean was presented by Abdul Karim bin Hamdan, the Special Duties Officer Grade II at the International Affairs Unit of the Information Department, to boost the students’ understanding and to inculcate a sense of belonging among the Asean Community, in line with the organisation’s motto of ‘One Vision, One Identity, One Community’.
The briefing continued on the topic of Brunei Vision 2035 and its strategies, to enhance the students’ awareness of national development, while at the same time inspiring them to work towards achieving that vision.
The event also included a quiz session, which was followed by a presentation of prizes to 10 students with the most correct answers.
The roadshow was part of the Information Department’s continuing efforts to provide secondary school students across the country with more exposure and education of Brunei Darussalam’s role in the regional arena.
