A SALE bazaar titled ‘Bah, Singgah’ (loosely translated as ‘have a stop’ or ‘have a detour’) was opened to the public on January 27 and will end on January 30. The bazaar is located at the Pusat Insani in Seria.

The bazaar is host to 60 vendors selling goods ranging from food to boutique items, with most of the booths originating from the Belait District. Haji Haris bin Othman, Belait District Officer was present on the first day of the bazaar to officiate the event.

Faza Suraj, Event Manager of Plaza Sutera Biru, in an interview said, “The aim of this event is to support local businesses and to help them promote their businesses to the public. Turnout for this bazaar is higher than we expected and we expect to see more in the days to come.”

Tengku Taufiq Tunku Mahmud, Group Executive Manager of Plaza Sutera Biru, added, “This sale bazaar, ‘Bah, Singgah’ will be a monthly event, with each month starting from next month (February) to carry a theme associated with that month’s bazaar.”

Belait District Officer Haji Haris in an interview said, “I am happy to see such a huge turnout from both the vendors and the people who came and I hope to see more shops focusing on their more popular assets in order to maximise their profits.”

In an interview, one of the owners of start-up food vendor called Burger Street, Mohd Mustaakim Mizzat bin Haji Gibli, 20, said, “We started Burger Street in 2016, as a way to make use of our time wasted doing nothing. We started learning how to make burgers and the sauces through YouTube and experimenting using different recipes. Through that we refined our burger to what they are today.

“This bazaar is a great way to increase our exposure to the public and as well as an opportunity to increase profit,” he added.

Guest of honour Haji Haris was welcomed by Pengiran Md Noor Joffren bin Pengiran Omar, Managing Partner of Plaza Sutera Biru and both were involved in the ribbon-cutting ceremony to officiate the launching of the bazaar. The guest of honour then visited the many vendors at the bazaar.

While this bazaar will end on January 30, more bazaar events are planned for the coming months with the next one being planned for February 28 with the theme ‘All About the Ladies’.
