THE newly-elected committee members of the Brunei Breast Cancer Support Group (BBCSG) have held their first meeting this year.
The non-profit group that was established to create awareness, education and a platform in support of patients with breast cancer has a long history of achievements in the community.
Its President, Hajah Aminah binti Haji Momin, explained to the Bulletin that donations and contributions from the general public are highly regarded and significant, as the funds are utilised to purchase items and equipment that are necessary for the health and well-being of patients suffering from breast cancer.
She added that there will be a ‘Forum Perdana’ to mark the World Cancer Day on February 4 at The Brunei Cancer Centre in Jerudong, where there will also be exhibitions and items on general sale to raise funds for breast cancer.
Hajah Linda Aini binti Abdullah, the Vice President of BBCSG, added that support from the community and family members is important for breast cancer sufferers.
Lectures and exhibitions are also an essential part of the breast cancer campaign to educate the families of breast cancer sufferers and the public, she said.
The inaugural meeting of 2017 incorporated various issues on its agenda aimed at disseminating better information and educational activities for public knowledge.
