THE Wasan Village Consultative Council (MPK) in collaboration with Kelab Pekicau WBPKL Brunei Darussalam yesterday organised the ‘Seni Suara Burung’ (the art of birdsong) competition in conjunction with Bandarku Ceria in the capital.
The competition attracted more than 300 bird enthusiasts locally as well as from neighbouring Sabah and Sarawak.
The chief guest at the event was YB Haji Mohimin bin Haji Johari, a member of the Legislative Council who is also Village Head of Kg Limau Manis. He presented the prizes to the winners.
The competition was divided into three categories. In the ‘Murai Batu Kepala Hitam’ category, Awangku Nor Iskandar bin Pengiran Omar won first place, while second place went to Md Raihan bin Haji Tengah and third place was won by Nizam.
In the ‘Murai Batu Kepala Putih’ category, first place went to Abang Din, second place went to Mahdini and third place went to Jimi.
The winners in the ‘Murai Batu Kelijiau’ category were Deanz in first place, Orapto in second and Razali RK in third place.
The aim of the competition was to support the Bandarku Ceria event and at the same time to enhance closer rapport among the participants and bird enthusiasts in the country.
The organiser hopes the competition can be held continuously in the future, in view of the large number of bird enthusiasts in the country. It can also help attract tourists to the Sultanate.
