FOLLOWING the recent ‘Satu Baju, Satu Senyuman’ (One Shirt, One Smile) charity bazaar, the Brunei-Muara District Office held a donation ceremony where clothes and other items of apparel were presented to the young orphans of the district.
The ceremony began with the guest of honour, Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim, the Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer receiving 579 pieces of Baju Cara Melayu and Baju Kurung from Haji Syed Anayatullah Shah, the Managing Director of Syarikat Dayang Limah dan Anak-Anak.
This was followed with a handover of dress fabric and textiles from Haji Syed Mohd Yassin bin Haji Syed Anayatullah Shah, Manager of Battle Pro Event Management (BPRO), which were later handed over to the Managing Director of Syarikat Dayang Limah dan Anak-Anak.
In an interview, Haji Syed Mohd Yassin said that another bazaar will be held from April 28 to May 1 at the Muhibbah Hall, Old Airport Berakas.
“The proceeds of $3,233 were used to purchase textiles and fabric for the orphans, and we are hoping to see another positive feedback from the public in the upcoming event. Insya Allah, we will be conducting more projects and events with a similar concept in the future,” he said.
Yesterday’s donation ceremony also witnessed young orphans choosing colours and patterns for themselves, followed by a measuring session for festive clothing, which will be finished within a period of one to two weeks, in time for the Hari Raya celebrations.
