SOME 30 participants comprising heads of department, lecturers and officers from Politeknik Brunei attended a Quality Control Circle (KKC) briefing at the Civil Service Institute (IPA) yesterday.
The briefing, delivered by an officer from IPA who also acted as a facilitator of the KKC, sought to introduce the KKC while enhancing the productivity of depart-ments and schools in the college through understanding of the use of methods to overcome associated problems and sharing best practices.
The event was also held to comme-morate World Book and Copyright Day which was declared by the UNESCO organisation to be celebrated every April 23.
It encourages the reading of printed materials and to create awareness on research and deepen the knowledge.
It is also in line with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s titah in encouraging a knowledgeable and informative society.
Also present was Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar, Acting Director of Politeknik Brunei.
KKC, also known as the quality control circle, is one of the public sector reforms implemented in the country to instil conti-nuous improvement for productivity and quality.
In concept, the KKC team is comprised of three to 10 members from the same unit or section, gathered in a group to identify vital issues and systematically solve problems that exist in their work environment.
