THE Board of Directors and Principal of Jerudong International School (JIS) held a handover ceremony of the new sports complex designed by local company Ecobumi.
The guest of honour was Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education.
Barnaby Sandow, Principal of JIS, in his speech said, “The new sports complex provides JIS students with further opportunities to be the best that they can be. We look forward to welcoming the Bruneian community to our community sports events in the future, too.”
The key features of the new sports complex are two large indoor multi-purpose courts, an indoor eight-lane track, a 25-metre swimming pool, a fitness suite and two classrooms.
The indoor multi-purpose courts will host sports such as basketball, netball, volleyball, futsal and other court games.
JIS Director of Sports, Chris McGeorge, said, “Students have missed at least 50 hours of PE time in the past academic year due to poor weather conditions such as lightning. Now with our new indoor facilities, we are able to run PE classes smoothly.”
