THE Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) Secondary School launched its SMY Cultural Carnival yesterday in conjunction with its ‘2017 Malay Language Week’.
Present as the guest of honour was Noorhaizamdin bin Haji Mohd Mosbi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the YSHHB School. Also present was Chong Li Chen, the Principal of YSHHB Secondary School.
Also joining the event yesterday was the grandson of His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, Pengiran Anak ‘Abdul Muta’ali Haziq Hamidullah bin Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul ‘Ali Yil-Kabier.
The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Mas Mohd Amirul Asyrah bin Haji Osman of Year 11 Science 1.
Various exhibitions and activities were carried out for the students throughout the carnival, including an exhibition of artefacts by the Museums Department, Brunei History Centre and Brunei Arts and Handicraft Centre.
The event aimed to instil a sense of love and patriotism among the students towards their country as well as to provide exposure to Brunei’s traditional games.
