THREE windsurfers from Brunei Darussalam recently participated in the City Day Open Regatta, which was held over two days at the Kota Kinabalu Yatch Club, Tanjung Aru Beach.
The event was held from February 25 to 26, 2017.
The local windsurfers who represented the country were from the Brunei Darussalam National Windsurfing Association (BDNWA).
The Brunei contingents competed in two categories – namely the Starboard Phantom 295 and Race Board Windsurfing.
In the Starboard Phantom 295 category, Brunei participant Md Hanafee bin Haji Abdul Latip won second place.
For the Race Board Windsurfing, BDNWA’s representatives came in fourth and ninth place.
During the regatta, the Brunei team also competed alongside 300 professional windsurfers from several Malaysian states, including Sabah, Sarawak, Pahang and Pulau Pinang, as well as from the Royal Malaysian Navy.
Presenting the prizes to the winners was the Director General of Kota Kinabalu City Hall, Datuk Joannes Solidau.
