Daelim Swee JV donates $300,000 to UTB’s Faculty of Engineering

THE Faculty of Engineering of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) received a corporate donation of $300,000 from Daelim Swee JV in a handover ceremony at the Pearl, UTB yesterday.

Attending as the guest of honour was Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education, who received the mock cheque from Chua Min Chu, Vice Chairman of Swee Sdn Bhd, and Ahn Byoung Wook, Project Manager at Daelim Industrial Co Ltd.

The minister then presented the mock cheque to Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, the Vice-Chancellor of UTB.

The donation will be used to complement the faculty’s effort in acquiring accreditation of all its degree programmes by the respective professional bodies leading to international recognition of the programmes.

Daelim Swee JV is a joint venture between Korean construction giant Daelim Industrial Co Ltd and local company, Swee Sdn Bhd. The joint venture company was awarded the contract two of the six packages of the Temburong Bridge project, namely the CC2 (Marine viaducts) and CC3 (Navigational Bridges) packages. The joint venture was also responsible for the design and construction of the Sungai Bunga Bridge, which is a 622 metre-long concrete dual carriage way (four lane) cable-stayed bridge with a single tower that connects the Brunei capital with Lumapas,

Also present at the ceremony were Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education, and Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education.
