Defending champions drawn tough opening fixture

DEFENDING champions Tabuan ‘A’ will be hosting Projek Ikan Pusu in the opening league fixture of the NFABD Under-16 Youth League Supported by FIFA in a repeat of last year’s cup final at the Berakas Sports Complex this Friday.

The first round fixtures have been confirmed with Bang Dalam FC set to make their much-anticipated debut in their inclusion to the league with a tricky tie away to Tabuan ‘C’ at Field ‘B’ of the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex.

The participating team managers’ attended a meeting organised by the committee chaired by the Acting General Secretary of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) Rosdin Abd Aziz at the Conference Room of NFABD House last night.

In his welcoming remarks, the acting general secretary called for cooperation to all parties involved to ensure a more successful league than the previous edition last year.

“For your further information, NFABD have opened participation to all 14 teams this year. As mentioned, there are 11 teams which have confirmed their participation in the NFABD Under-16 Youth League Supported by FIFA 2017,” said Rosdin during the team managers’ meeting last night.

“This year we will try our best to run the league better than last year. However for us to realise or achieve our hopes last year and this year cooperation from various parties not just from management but also from participating teams this year.”

He also congratulated the participating teams to be included in this year’s league and hoped that they can demonstrate the spirit of sportsmanship and better matches compared to last year.

“If it is possible this year cooperation in terms of regulations and match outcomes must be obeyed, as well as any problems which are encountered can be referred to the secretariat,” he concluded before passing the floor to the league manager.

Among the highlights of the team managers’ meeting was the registration of players, the fixtures’ list and the confirmation of jerseys.

The participating teams were called out to inform the primary colours of their home and away jerseys including socks and shirts as well as goalkeeper and bib colours.

All matches will be held simultaneously at 8:30am with four other teams also scheduled to see action.
