BRUNEI’s mixed martial artist (MMA) Adib Sulaiman expressed his excitement after securing a fine win against Calsen Choong from Penang via unanimous decision in his Ultimate Beatdown Fighting Championship Malaysia debut at the Plaza Sentosa in Johor Bahru.
The Busiido MMA representative was happy with his match against an opponent who already registered two victories under his belt.
“Participating the event itself was very much exciting and it was an opportunity for me to display my training and work from the gym,” said Adib in an interview with the Bulletin.
The competitor added that winning the match was an added bonus after training for two years in an attempt to perfect his craft.
“I have been training roughly for two years in various martial arts to prepare for an MMA fight,” said the 26-year old.
Asked what his next venture following his maiden victory, Adib continued that he is looking towards recovering and return to training.
The competitor also revealed that competing for the belt is entirely up to the fighting league management which depends on the fight’s performance and the record of the fighter.
Adib, who fought in the amateur bantamweight division which is equal to 61.2kg, also expressed his gratitude to the Busiido MMA team, MMA head coach Eazy Anuar and training partners that has helped train him in the sport.
“Of course, thanks also goes out to my family for the much needed support in my training routines schedules,” he concluded.
