LIVEWIRE recently kicked off its first intensive ‘Become a Successful Owner Manager’ (BSOM) enterprise development programme for 2016, which enabled budding entrepreneurs to develop the essential knowledge and skills required to start and run a successful, sustainable business.
The BSOM programme covered key topics ranging from market research and business planning to financial and human resource management, culminating in the production of a viable business plan.
Participants include fresh graduates, young entrepreneurs and members of the public, LiveWIRE said in a statement.
Throughout the four-day workshop, guest speakers comprised of both well-known and young entrepreneurs, along with business advisers and industry experts in the field of enterprise from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), KPMG, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), AIA Insurance, WMK Resource Management Services, Brunei Intellectual Property Office (BruIPO), Peter Chen and Joshua Lim Sheng Ming.
Guest speaker and Resident Partner of KPMG, Haji Shazali bin Dato Haji Sulaiman covering his session on ‘Doing Business in Brunei Darussalam’ addressed on the growing unemployment rate in Brunei, and how initiatives such as the BSOM workshop are important for learning the pros and cons of running own business. One important message he shared with the participants is to believe in themselves and the importance of understanding basic finance in particular working capital management.
Speaking about the workshop, LiveWIRE Business Counsellor, Mohd Fadhilullah Tudun bin Haji Hassan said, “The BSOM workshop is designed to equip participants with the business tools, essential know-how to research and develop a viable business proposition as well as starting and running their busines.
“It is also aimed at addressing any potential issues and challenges as well as avoiding any big mistakes that would have affected the success of a company.”
Participant and in-service Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) student, Khairul Adli shared, “Apart from this workshop being good value for money, it is a good source of information to add a skill set for my own development as a budding entrepreneur.”
In addition to the BSOM workshop, LiveWIRE is concurrently participating as an exhibitor at the ‘Minggu Generasi Genius’ event held at UBD’s Central Lecture Theatre Foyer from March 21-24 and March 26.
Other LiveWIRE upcoming courses and activities include the ‘Bright Ideas’ enterprise awareness and business ideas generation workshop on April 13-14 April, Business Plan Series and Leadership Camp, among others.
LiveWIRE also provides mentoring and counselling sessions upon request.
