CELEBRATIONS to mark the Golden Jubilee of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s reign should emphasise modesty and simplicity, besides highlighting the country’s high historical values.
This was emphasised in a sabda by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, during the 3rd Meeting of the Executive Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne, at the Prime Minister’s Office building at Jalan Perdana Menteri yesterday.
The Sectoral Committees for the celebration must always be guided by the titah of His Majesty which underscored the importance of moderation in celebration and making it as a model for the people of Brunei Darussalam, His Royal Highness said.
His Royal Highness, who is also the Patron of the Advisory Committee for the Golden Jubilee celebration, was greeted on arrival by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, member of the Advisory Committee and the Co-Chairpersons of the Executive Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebration.
Also present to greet His Royal Highness the Crown Prince were the Co-Chairpersons of the Executive Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebration, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara; Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs; Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance II; Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti; and Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Mohd Nawawi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Haji Awang Mohd Taha, Private and Confidential Secretary to His Majesty.
The meeting was preceded by a recitation of Doa Selamat by a member of the Executive Committee, YB Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal followed by opening remarks by the Minister of Home Affairs, after which His Royal Highness the Crown Prince delivered a sabda.
There should be continuous commitment and dedication, especially in the later stages of implementation of the programmes to ensure that each plan has a smooth sailing, and it is important to have proper discussions and coordination between the sectoral committees as well as with the relevant stakeholders, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince said, adding that the celebration of the Golden Jubilee is hoped to make a big impact on the economy and stimulate sustainable economic activities.
Highlighting His Majesty’s titah as the guideline for the implementation of the events and activities, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince called on the relevant committees to give special attention to matters explained by His Majesty.
“His Majesty has stressed that events of the Golden Jubilee celebration such as the Golden Jubilee procession should be carefully planned and have historical values. The events should be moderate, simple and display high historical values as an attraction to the public,” His Royal Highness the Crown Prince said.
“His Majesty has also consented for the portrait of Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam to be displayed adjacent to the portrait of His Majesty on all arches throughout the districts,” His Royal Highness the Crown Prince added.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince said that the opening and closing dates of the Gendang Jaga-Jaga ceremony have been advanced by a day to September 28, 2017 and October 12, 2017, as the original dates fall on Fridays which will give only limited time for the ceremony as it involves the installation of the Royal Regalia accessories.
On the plan to make a new royal dais, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince said its design should be modern, appropriate, simple and in conformity with Islamic principles. His Majesty has also stressed the need to be thrifty when designing and making the new royal dais, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince added.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince also said the Golden Jubilee Royal Parade will begin and end in front of Bandar Seri Begawan Fire Station, like how it was during the Silver Jubilee procession. His Royal Highness the Crown Prince hoped that the discussion yesterday will trigger concise thoughts and facilitate and enhance effective implementation of the celebration events.
At the meeting, Co-Chairpersons of the Sectoral Committees for the Golden Jubilee Celebration presented the latest developments on the planned programmes including the highlight of the Golden Jubilee celebration, the Royal Parade.
