BRUNEI Darussalam and the Republic of the Philippines signed two landmark accords – the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation and the Memorandum of Understanding on Halal Industry and Halal Development and Promotion.
The signing ceremony was held at the reception hall of Malacañan Palace in Manila as part of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s State Visit to the Philippines, which began yesterday.
Rodrigo Roa Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines, also witnessed the event.
Signing the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation on behalf of the Government of His Majesty was Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II, while the Government of the Republic of the Philippines was represented by Virgilio S Almario, Chairperson of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
The Memorandum of Understanding on Halal Industry and Halal Development and Promotion was signed on behalf of the Government of His Majesty by Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office, while Ramon Lopez, Secretary of Trade and Industry signed for the Philippines.
