BARELY 9am and with doors yet to be swung open for business, and already a long queue of intending holiday-makers had formed on the eighth floor of the Orchid Garden Hotel yesterday, looking to take advantage of the best deals offered at the 14th Freme Travel Fair.
The fair continues at the hotel today, while the best deals will also be available at all Freme offices only for tomorrow.
Freme Travel Managing Director Michael Lee told the Weekend Bulletin, “During the fair, we have what we call a ‘price guarantee,’ whereby Freme will match or refund the fare difference should a customer find a better fare from another travel agent after having purchased a ticket from Freme (with the same itinerary, class and date of travel).
“Visitors will be able to see the differences in fares. Additionally, the fares are inclusive of all taxes – there are no hidden charges,” he said.
“We decided to move venues this year so we would have a bigger space with ample parking,” he said, adding that last year “was our best year.”
He is, however, cautiously optimistic about this year, saying, “Bruneians still desire to travel despite the economic uncertainty. This is partly because airlines have come up with good fares during the travel fair period. People may opt to reduce the frequency of travel per year or choose a destination closer to home.”
Malaysia, London, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore are popular travel destinations among Bruneians, he pointed out.
The 14th Freme Travel Fair includes new and interesting destinations in South Africa, Russia, Morocco and Europe.
Daily draws to bag air tickets and travel packages will be available during the fair, and customers will also stand a chance to ‘Win Quarter Million Royal Skies Miles’ worth $10,000 in travel value.
Baiduri Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Jerudong Park and Brunei River Cruise are also participating at the Freme Travel Fair.
