AS PART of promoting the local short film industry, Putra Seni yesterday hosted the 6th edition of the Putra Seni Theatre Group’s Tamu Seni event at the Youth Centre cafe in the capital.

The event, entitled ‘Potential of Locale Short Film’, began with a welcoming speech from the chairman of the event, Mohd Zefri Ariff bin Mohd Zain Ariff, President of Putra Seni, who touched on the progress of the local film industry especially on the short film industry where youths play an important role in developing multiple genres of short films every year.

The event continued with a special preview of the upcoming local film ‘Apa Ada Dengan Rina 2’, followed with six films produced by Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s students taking ‘AC-4309: Short-Film Making’ module.

The event also provided a platform for local theatre enthusiasts to interact with each other and discuss various issues concerning the world of arts.

Formed in 1984, Putra Seni is a youth association functioning under the Brunei Youth Council.

The group is active in arts, culture and literature. It has incorporated Bruneian folk stories and religion-themed acts in its production ‘Rumah Pusaka’.
