THE Brunei Darussalam Village and Mukim Cooperative (KOKAMI) held a special general meeting yesterday to appoint a new board of directors at the auditorium of JobCentre Brunei.
The proceedings saw discussions and presentations before the appointment of new members of the board of directors. It was chaired by Pengiran Haji Mohd Salleh bin Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin, a member of the KOKAMI Board of Directors.
Speaking in an interview, Pengiran Haji Mohd Salleh, who is the temporary Chairman during the election period, shared that nine members were selected for the board following yesterday’s meeting.
KOKAMI will have another meeting for the next stage of the election process, he added. Meanwhile, for the remaining six slots on the board, the Belait, Temburong and Tutong districts will each be given two slots.
Once the board has its 15 appointed members, another election for the chairman, secretary-general and treasurer general will be held.
“KOKAMI is the biggest cooperative in Brunei in terms of numbers. We want to call it the people’s cooperative,” Pengiran Haji Mohd Salleh said.
KOKAMI aims to contribute towards development and nation-building, as well as peace and prosperity through the creation of wealth and equitable distribution of wealth. It also aims to help improve the standard of living of its members.
