KOTA Junior FC’s two-year unbeaten streak in the Brunei Futsal League came to an end after a 6-3 defeat to NFT Under-20 at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex on Sunday.

The national under-20 team stormed to the top of the league with nine points while Kota Junior slipped to third in the table.

The reigning holders’ sole defeat in the league prior to Sunday’s clash came in the 5-3 defeat to MS ABDB in April 12, 2015.

The national under-20 team received a massive boost ahead of their preparations for the much-anticipated Asian Futsal Confederation (AFC) Under-20 Futsal Championship which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand following their third successive league win.

The national juniors have already prevailed against Eagle Blues and Riz Fiz FT keeping a clean sheet against the latter.

Two-time Brunei Futsal League winners Kota Junior also wished good luck to their conquerors ahead of the continental competition.

“3-6 defeat against a very well prepared team, full of talent in the national futsal under-20,” said the club via Instagram.

Mohammad Radhi Radian looked to have cemented his place in the starting berth after scoring a hat-trick in the 10th, 28th and 36th minute.

Kota Junior took the lead after only 35 seconds through Mohammad Faiz but goals from Mohammad Radhi and Mohammad Fardi Farhan Affendi ensured that NFT gain a slender advantage at the interval.

Awangku Muhammad Naqib bin Pengiran Timbang drew level for Kota Junior but Md Nasy’rul Wafiy Haji Hassan put his side in front with nine seconds separating both goals.

Mohammad Radhi made it 4-2 before Abdul Azim Bollhassan made it a mountain to climb for the league leaders with his sixth goal of the campaign with seven minutes remaining.

Abdul Muinuddin Abdullah got Kota Junior’s third of the night in the 34th minute but Mohammad Radhi completed his hat-trick to seal a precious win.

The tie between Shah United and MS ABDB ended in a 3-3 draw which did not suit either side.
