THE recent Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network installation for residents of the Tanah Jambu National Housing Scheme (RPN) project has topped the company’s connectivity effort to over 15,500 homes for housing schemes under the Housing Development Department – supplementing the 2017 milestone target of over 45,000 homes and businesses throughout the country that continue to reap the benefits of high speed broadband.
As the most populated district, Brunei-Muara’s various RPN projects carries most of Telekom Brunei Berhad’s (TelBru) FTTH network under the said residential scheme followed by similar housing schemes in Kuala Belait.
The remaining housing schemes in the other two districts, meanwhile, are also within TelBru’s scope of priorities with several installation projects currently underway in Tutong District including homes under the Brunei Economic Development Board’s jurisdiction whilst installation reviews continue to take place for the inhabitants of Temburong District.
Up-and-coming connections for other national housing scheme projects include some 1,800 homes in Kampong Meragang with an expected completion date by the second quarter of this year alongside a further 2,780 homes in Kampong Bukit Beruang.
Working closely with the relevant government agencies, TelBru will continue keeping itself abreast with infrastructural developments throughout the country as Brunei Darussalam expands to accommodate the growing number of people. As part of its commitment to meeting the needs of residents in all districts, TelBru has strategically embedded staff with the Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi) specifically for telecommunications planning for up and coming projects including plans for new housing developments.
