IN CONJUNCTION with the upcoming Brunei’s 1st MSME Innovation Conference and Expo, as well as the China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) Brunei Exhibition 2017, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister’s Office, hosted a dinner last night to welcome the Chinese delegates led by the Governor of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Chen Wu.
Held at the Emperor’s Court, Manggis Mall, the dinner was also attended by the Ambassador of China to Brunei Darussalam, Yang Jian; Deputy Minister of Finance, Dato Paduka Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Dato Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, as well as the permanent secretaries and deputy secretaries at the ministries of Brunei Darussalam.
Chen Wu is currently in Brunei for a working visit from May 2.
Brunei-Guangxi cooperation is defined through the Brunei-Guangxi Economic Corridor and CAEXPO.
This year Brunei Darussalam will be the country of honour for the 14th CAEXPO that will take place in Nanning, China on September 12-15.
The Brunei-Guangxi economic corridor has allowed the materialisation of several key FDI projects in Brunei Darussalam, such as the Muara Port Company with Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Co Ltd and Hiseaton Fisheries (B) Sdn Bhd, a company specialising in fisheries breeding technology.
There are also several other companies from the Guangxi region that have expressed interest in investing in Brunei Darussalam.
Chen Wu will be visiting the Muara Port Company and attending the CAEXPO Exhibition Brunei 2017.
He leads a delegation of Guangxi officials and 70 entrepreneurs from the People’s Republic of China.
The delegation aims to strengthen business, trade and investment cooperation with potential partners from Brunei.
It is hoped that Brunei Darussalam will be able to reciprocate with an equally strong private sector presence at the 14th China-Asean Expo.
