BRUNEI Darussalam will celebrate the Israk Mikraj of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) tomorrow at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.
A rehearsal for the event took place yesterday which was attended by Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar; Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman in his capacity as the Head of the Executive Committee for organising major Islamic calendar events for 1437 Hijrah; and other committee members.
The highlight of the celebration will be a special religious talk entitled ‘Sembahyang Kunci Syurga’ which is also the theme of this year’s Israk Mikraj celebration.
According to Hajah Siti Mahyana binti Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Haji Awang Yahya, Deputy Secretary of the National Level Working Committee for the Israk Mikraj Celebration, highlighted that the celebration will be filled with the recitation of verses from the Al-Quran, a special religious lecture and Nasyid performance.
In enlivening the celebration, the Ministry of Religious Affairs will also be conducting three side events whereby the Islamic Syiar Development Division will organise a workshop on ‘Kesempurnaan Sembahyang’ that will focus on appropriate ways to perform ‘Jamak’ and ‘Qasar’ prayers as well as ways to perform prayer in vehicles.
The second event is a Mass Prayer Campaign (Kempen Solat Berjemaah) which will be handled by the Mosque Affairs Department. It will focus on mass Subuh prayer that will be conducted throughout the country.
The third event is a briefing on understanding of Zakat which will be organised by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) and will focus on government officers, private agencies and others. The dates for the briefing will be announced soon.
