A BRUNEIAN man and another man from Limbang, Malaysia died yesterday when the car they were travelling in collided with a compact SUV in Kampung Bambangan Tedungan.
The victims were identified as 59-year-old Pungut Tambah from Brunei and Ujan Osman, aged 53, from Limbang, Malaysia.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Brunei.
Head of the Fire and Rescue Department of Limbang Zone, Edmund Dmahai Amboh, said that the car was said to be travelling from Limbang to Brunei when it collided with the SUV that was coming from the opposite direction.
He said that it was raining heavily during the collision, which resulted in the car ending up in a ditch.
Twelve personnel in three Fire and Rescue vehicles took 38 minutes to reach the accident scene in Kampung Bambangan which is about 39 kilometres from Limbang town after the department received a call at 1.32pm, he said.
