THE National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) marked a new milestone in the continued development and progress of football in the country following a historic partnership signing ceremony with Fitness Zone at the Fitness Zone Kiulap yesterday.
With the partnership signing, Fitness Zone will be designated as the official health club for NFABD’s national teams.
The national teams- which include the senior squad and the national futsal squad- will be provided complimentary membership to use the gym facilities at Fitness Zone Kiulap for one year.
The national teams will have access to various facilities and resources of Fitness Zone for their training requirements to adequately prepare them for regional or international competitions.
NFABD Acting Deputy President Haji Madli bin Haji Mohd Yusof expressed his delight with the partnership with Fitness Zone as the official health club for NFABD and hoped that this will be the start of building a good and continued relationship between both parties.
“The continuous and unwavering support from the President of NFABD, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah made the partnership a reality,” affirmed Haji Madli in his remarks following the partnership signing yesterday.
“It is also made possible through the Managing Director of Fitness Zone Wu Chun’s vision to create a more dynamic national football team,” added the acting deputy president.
He said that NFABD is confident that this initiative will enable them to lift the morale and spirits of the players.
The acting deputy president acknowledged the Fitness Zone as the leading fitness and health club in the country and carries an excellent reputation in terms of delivering work ethics as well as providing services and hospitality with the utmost quality.
“Because of this, NFABD believe that the national players can contribute as a ‘brand ambassador for Fitness Zone,” he continued.
Haji Madli also said that the cooperation will further boost the popularity of football in the country and will attract interest of youths to train with the national players while urging players to seize the opportunity to use the facilities and equipment provided by Fitness Zone wisely.
The acting deputy president also announced that NFABD will be organising six futsal coaching clinics at Fitness Zone which is aimed at attracting the interest of youths and to observe talent for selection by the national coach or clubs.
NFABD are currently arranging several matches which will be participated by the national teams and Haji Madli hoped that the players will devote more attention to their fitness exercises at Fitness Zone.
Meanwhile, Managing Director of Fitness Zone Wu Chun said: “We at Fitness Zone want our National Team to feel appreciated and we hope to share our expertise to improve their performance.”
He further added that one of the long standing missions of Fitness Zone is in supporting local athletes.
“The football players especially the younger generations need the support of all the Bruneians. If we can give them a bit of support to appreciate them for their hard work, I think it’s the most minor thing that we have to do,” Wu Chun said.
Wu Chun expressed their hope of working together with the coaches and coming up with group programmes for the benefit of the players.
“The players are also role models. If we have Fitness Zone members who love football, we hope that the players can come in and do interactions with them to encourage them and build up the football community in Brunei,” he concluded.
