A SCOUTS ‘Initial Course’ was recently organised by the Scouts Association of Belait District in collaboration with the National Scout Training Team of Brunei Darussalam at Sungai Tali Primary School, Lumut.
The event was conducted to expose various knowledge and skills required in scouting for the participants.
More than 20, participants consisting principals, chief scout, scout team leaders, and assistant scout members in the Belait District participated in the course.
The course was attended by the Senior Education Officer from the Department of Co-Curriculum Education in the Belait District, Mohd Shahdani bin Abdullah as well as leaders of the Scout Association of Belait District and commissioners of Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association, who oversees the activities during the event.
Also present at the event was the Chairperson of the Initial Course event, Haji Damit bin Haji Chuchu.
The chairperson voiced his hopes that the event will allow scout members in the Scouts Association of Belait District to be more active and knowledgeable in carrying out their roles in their teams.
The participants were exposed to over seven sessions, each catering to various aspects of scouting, such as the mission, vision, objectives, and methods of scouting as well as the development of scouting.
Participants were also briefed on the national worldwide scout movement, in particular, the structure and parts of the movement, scout leadership training scheme and the badge award scheme.
